Iran marked by remarkable natural contrasts, is a country with 1,648,000 km² areas that equals the United Kingdom, France, Spain, and Germany combined; it is the eighteenth largest country in the world is bound on the north and south by two bodies of water, the Caspian Sea and Persian Gulf. It is bordered on the east by Afghanistan and Pakistan, on the west by turkey and Iraq, and on the northeast and northwest by the five newly independent republics of central Asia.
Tehran, Tabriz, urumia, Hamedan, Ahvaz, Shiraz, zahedan, Isfahan, Mashad, Karaj, Qom, Rasht are the main cities of Iran.
Iran has 8837 km main rail roads. International trains are between Tehran –Istanbul via Ankara and Tabriz, Tehran- Damascus. Domestic trains are from Tehran to Khorramshahr, Tehran to Bandar Abbas, and Tehran to Gorgan, Tehran to Mashad, and from Tehran to Tabriz. Also there is an occasional train form Zahedan (Iran) to Quetta.
The highways of Iran is about 17000 km that are between Tehran to north of Iran, Tehran to Isfahan, Karaj, Qom and Saveh. Also from Isfahan to Shiraz.
The main asphalt roads of Iran are 130000 km. and the rural asphalt roads are 50000km.
