Our journey commences at the historic site of Bisotun, home to the Achaemenid Empire’s majestic inscriptions carved into its cliffs, chronicling Darius the Great’s victory over Geomat Magh. Recognized by UNESCO in 2006 for its historical significance, Bisotun offers a glimpse into ancient Persian civilization with its collection of relics including the Blash stone, Guderz petroglyph, and Mehrdad Ashkani’s inscription.
Venturing forth to Islamabad Gharb and Sarpol, despite the challenges posed by recent earthquakes, these cities remain a testament to resilience, housing treasures like Sarab Sharafabad and Cheghagaveneh Hill. An overnight stay in Islamabad offers the chance to explore the cultural heritage and natural beauty of Sarpol Zahab at dawn.
Day 2: Ancient Bridge and Historical Inscriptions
Our second day delves into the region’s ancient architecture and inscriptions, notably the stone inscription of Anubanini, king of the Lulobis, a testament to the area’s rich history carved into the mountainside millennia ago. The evening in this city prepares us for the next day’s visit to the remnants of Shirin Palace, preserving stories of love and empire.
