Day 1: Exploring Sardasht's Resilience and Beauty
The journey to the extreme northwest of Iran starts from “Sardasht.” A city whose name is known worldwide as one of the cities where chemical attacks targeted civilians. So don’t be surprised if you see a street named Hiroshima in this city. Because in Hiroshima city, a street is named after Sardasht.
Although Sardasht brings the memory of hard times, its pristine nature has always attracted the attention of travelers. Shalmash waterfall and Zab river are among the beautiful natural attractions of Sardasht, and Garmabeh Biston, a Qajar heritage in the heart of Sardasht, is also one of the historical monuments of this city.
We leave Sardasht towards Shnoye. Oshnavieh is a strange city located near the border of three countries: Iran, Turkey and Iraq. This city is famous for having cherry orchards. Oshnavieh villas are also trendy among tourists. There are many hot springs on the road from Oshnavieh to Urmia.
Day 2: Urmia's Charms and Landmarks
After staying overnight in Oshnavieh, on the morning of the second day of the trip, leave for Urmia, the capital of West Azerbaijan province.
Undoubtedly, you know Urmia by the name of its beautiful lake, which is not in a good mood these days. Also, inside the city of Urmia, there are many attractions such as Shahrbani Mansion, Three Domes Mansion, Urmia Museum, 9 Steps Glacier, Barandooz Bridge, Urmia Caravanserai, Urmia Old Market, and Garmabeh Akhund mentioned that seeing all of them at least It takes a day. You can also visit “Band Urmia” at night and enjoy the delicious food sold there. Prepare yourself to leave tomorrow morning.
Day 3: Khoi's Legacy and Cross-Border Ties
The city of Khoy and Razi border is one of the busiest crossings on the Turkish border. Khoi has also gained fame under the name of Shams Tabrizi. Interestingly, Khoi has a sisterhood with cities like Konya in Turkey and Vaik and Jermuk in Armenia. Don’t forget to stay one night in this city and see the monuments such as Puria Valley tombs.
Day 4: Maku's Hidden Treasures and Cultural Gems
On the morning of the fourth day, the movement towards the travel destination, Maku, begins. This city is in a valley with a river called “Zangmar” passing through it. Immediately after reaching Maku, you can go to its sights. “Zor Zor Church” and ” Basalt Stones Valley” around this city, as well as the “Baghche Jugh Palace,” which are located in the north of this city, are among the sights of Maku that should not be forgotten.
