Rasht Municipality Square - Iran Tourist Attractions
Rasht Municipality Square
The Rasht Municipality Square, constructed during Reza Shah Pahlavi’s reign (1925-1941), comprises the Municipality Palace, Post Museum, and the old Iran Hotel building. The Municipality building and its clock tower, damaged in the 1990 Manjil earthquake and later restored, are iconic symbols of Rasht. Unique features include daily live music performances by the Municipality Orchestra and the clock’s chimes, which ring hourly and every half-hour. The Municipality Palace, a beautiful white building, is a major tourist attraction in Rasht.
