Tour Overview

This 6-day journey combines daily yoga with hiking, mountain landscapes and real time with Lor nomadic communities in the Zagros. Starting in Shiraz, the route moves into the mountains through Sepidan and Margoon Waterfall before reaching the nomadic areas around the Zagros and Yasuj.

The focus is not simply on visiting a nomadic camp. You spend time with local families, share traditional food, experience everyday mountain life and sleep in simple local accommodation or a nomadic tent. Hiking and outdoor yoga are built into the journey, with enough time to slow down and experience the landscape rather than rush between attractions.

Hiking in the Zagros

Hiking is an important part of this tour. Routes are selected according to weather, trail conditions and the group’s ability, with a mixture of mountain walks and longer guided hikes.

Expect uneven trails, elevation changes and some sections that require a reasonable level of fitness. This is not a technical climbing trip, but it is more physically demanding than a conventional sightseeing tour.

Food & Local Cuisine

Meals during the mountain and nomadic sections introduce you to simple home cooking based on locally available ingredients.

  • Homemade traditional bread
  • Fresh yogurt and local dairy products
  • Seasonal vegetables and mountain herbs
  • Rice and traditional local dishes
  • Grilled meat and other regional dishes
  • Herbal tea and traditional hospitality

Vegetarian meals can be prepared with advance notice.

Best Season

🌿 April–June
Spring brings greener mountain landscapes, comfortable hiking temperatures and a lively seasonal atmosphere in the Zagros.
🍂 September–October
Cooler temperatures make hiking and outdoor yoga particularly comfortable, while the mountain landscape begins to change with the season.

Mountain weather can change quickly. Even during warmer months, evenings at higher elevations can be considerably cooler than Shiraz.
