The Mausoleum and Khanqah of Sheikh Safi al-Din Ardabili

The tomb of Sheikh Safi al-Din, a mystic and the founder of the Safavid Khanqah is located in the city of Ardabil. The complex includes Sheikh Safi al-Din’s mausoleum, a library, a mosque, and a school, and its architecture is in complete harmony with the principles of Sufism. This mausoleum is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site.

During the Safavid era, this place was adorned with such grandeur, especially by Shah Abbas I in his devotion to Sheikh Safi al-Din, that it remains one of the glories of Iranian history and culture even after several centuries.
