Day 1: Khorramshahr Resilience
We’ll embark on our journey with a visit to the Khorramshahr War Museum, allowing you to witness the historic Khorramshahr Grand Mosque up close. This mosque has been a significant symbol in the news regarding the liberation of Khorramshahr. Additionally, we’ll explore the old bridge of Khorramshahr, a site that has witnessed numerous pivotal events during the city’s occupation.
Our adventure takes us near the playful moniker of “Brazil” near Khorramshahr. Here, you’ll want to don your Ray-Ban glasses as we visit the Rangooniha Mosque and meander around Shatt. War movie enthusiasts will be intrigued by “Mino Island,” a location in Abadan known for its cinematic representations.
As we bid farewell to Abadan and Khorramshahr, we’ll head towards Ahvaz. A journey of less than 2 hours will bring us to the center of Khuzestan province. Prepare yourself for the myriad of attractions awaiting in Ahvaz. A sunset walk along the Karon River offers breathtaking views of the White Bridge, and we highly recommend a visit to the Lashkar Abad market, known for its famous falafel. As dawn breaks, we’ll proceed northwards in Khuzestan, delving deeper into the province’s marvels.
Day 2: Waterways of Shushtar
Shushtar, our next stop, welcomes you into an ancient realm within Iran, celebrated for its water engineering marvels, recognized by UNESCO. Highlights include Darion Creek, the Kolah Ferangi Tower, and Mostofi’s House, each steeped in historical significance.
Our journey includes a visit to Shush, a haven for tourists and history buffs. The Apadana Palace, Shush Castle, Tomb of Daniel Nabi, and notably, the Chogha Zanbil Ziggurat, are among the historical monuments we’ll explore.
As evening falls, we’ll arrive in Dezful, where a restful night prepares us for the discoveries of tomorrow.
Day 3: Ancient Echoes of Dezful
In Dezful, we’ll immerse ourselves in the city’s ancient texture and architectural splendor. The city’s water structures and aqueducts showcase the region’s historical water management prowess. A visit to the historical site of Jundishapur is an absolute must.
Our exploration extends to Andimeshk, where sights like “Pol Saihe” and Amir Seyf’s tomb, along with Chehel Pa’s protected area, await.
Dey 4: Valleys of Lorestan
Leaving Andimeshk, we transition from Khuzestan to Ilam, reaching Abdanan. Here, landmarks like Imamzadeh Seyyed Salahuddin Muhammad and Twin Black Cow Lake enchant visitors. Our next destination is Dareh Shahr, nestled at the foothills of “Kabirkouh,” offering natural wonders and historical sites.
Day 5: Khorramabad Splendor
Traversing towards Khorramabad, we’ll pass through Poldokhtar, known for its ancient bridges and historical importance. In Khorramabad, the capital of Lorestan, we’ll witness spectacular waterfalls, historic bridges, and the serene Lake Q. A nighttime view of Khorramabad from a rooftop concludes our splendid 5-day journey through Iran’s historical and natural wonders.
