Day 1: Khorramabad - Borujerd Journey
On the morning of the first day, we leave Khorram Abad towards Borujerd. First, we will visit the Boroujerd Grand Mosque. The Boroujerd Grand Mosque is one of the first mosques built in Iran, which was built in the second to third centuries of the Hijri in the city of Boroujerd. This mosque is located in one of the historical neighborhoods of Nam Du Dange city. In terms of architecture and age, it is one of the unique buildings of Lorestan province and Borujerd city. Then, we will visit the most significant historical mosque in the country’s west, the Sultani Mosque. The Sultani Mosque is one of the historical monuments of Borujerd city, built in the center of the town and next to Borujerd Bazaar. This mosque was built during the time of Feth Ali Shah Qajar on the ruins of an ancient mosque and is one of the most significant historical mosques in the country. Two relatively similar examples were built at the same time in the cities of Qazvin and Tehran, and all three of these mosques were known under the name of the Shah Mosque in the Pahlavi period. The architecture of the Sultani Mosque in Borujard is derived from the architecture of the Shah Mosque in Tehran.
Borujerd has charming historical houses. One of the most famous buildings is the historical house of Eftekhar Al-Islam.
Iftikhar al-Islam Tabatabai’s house belongs to the Qajar period and is located in Borujard, Safa Street, Hilal Ahmar Alley, Agha Ahmadi Alley. This house belonged to one of the prominent clerics of the city and from the family of Sadat Tabatabai of Borujard, named Haj Iftikhar al-Islam Nabavi Tabatabai. The home is located in the alley known as Haj Iftikhar in the Sufian neighborhood. It was one of the largest residential houses in the city in its time and is currently one of the most beautiful old residential houses in Borujerd city.
The current building was built around the beginning of the Qajar period and includes an entrance with a large and beautiful head. A wooden double door is installed on it, which enters the courtyard after passing through the vestibule. The square of the house is surrounded by architectural spaces on three sides and on the west side by a large and thick wall, which is decorated with small and large semi-circular arches and beautiful decorations of brickwork and mosaic tiles.
After having lunch at one of the famous restaurants in Borujerd, we will visit the historical house of Kamal Tabatabai (Museum of Borujerd). Haj Agha Kamaluddin Nabavi’s home is on Safa Street, Hilal Ahmar Alley, Agha Ahmadi Alley. This house belonged to Haj Agha Kamaluddin Nabavi Tabatabai, one of the clerics from the Sadat Tabatabai family of Borujerd. The prominence of this house is due to its bricks, tiles, and wooden doors and windows. This historic house is currently a museum in Borujerd. It has also been the filming location of several series and movies.
The final program of the trip will be to visit the old market of Borujerd, visit the house of Mugheeth al-Islam, and then we will go to the hotel to rest.
